A Letter to Those Trying to Understand Me I’m Steve Hong, a tech founder based in Malaysia. I started as a full stack developer—writing code, shipping systems, solving problems. But over time, I made a conscious decision: I gave up the path of becoming a CTO. Not because I couldn’t, but because I realized that great companies aren’t built on technology alone. They’re built on systems, data, and structural decisions that can scale. Truthfully, I didn’t start my company because of some grand vision. I took on too many freelance projects, got overwhelmed, and ended up forming a team. That accidental shift made me realize something fundamental: If a business model can’t be productized, it will always depend on labor. If a process can’t be standardized, it will never scale. So I started building—not just software, but a system of thinking, executing, and growing. I believe in data, not intuition As a developer, I respect technology. But I don’t worship it. I’ve seen too many products fail not because the tech wasn’t good, but because the decisions were made based on ego, guesswork, or short-term hype. I believe that: - Every decision must be backed by measurable data - Every process should be designed to be repeatable and improvable - People are accelerators, but systems are the foundation - Business isn’t about gut feeling, it’s about structure, iteration, and verification What I do isn’t trendy—it’s structural. I’m not chasing growth hacks. I’m building long-term engines.
